
Serial Grillaz BBQ is the result of an idea, a passion for great food, an unhealthy obsession with fire and powered by love, four children, three spaniels, copious amounts of black coffee, and very little sleep!
I'm Lewis, the man the myth, and the moustache behind Serial Grillaz BBQ.
My catering experience started way back when, pot washing in a burger bar at the age of 13. I grew to love the idea of cooking and, following in my fathers footsteps, I packed up whatever 16 year old boys have to pack up, and went to London to go and work with him in a 5 star hotel along the banks of the River Thames.
Here I learnt a variety of cooking styles from the fast pace of restaurant kitchens to the finesse and precision of volume banquet cooking, serving parties of up to 1000 people a number of courses.
International cuisines were a daily challenge with the privilege of learning from some of the best technical chefs out there. One of those chefs was my Dad, a Philippine National and one of the most knowledgeable chefs I know. Being half Filipino myself, I have invested a lot of time and inches around my waist to be influenced by the cuisine. The most Filipino thing about me are my flavour profiles and preference of some of the Filipino cooking methods.
Whilst working hotel kitchens, I was trained in the French Classics at Westminster Kingsway College before securing a trainee roll behind a Sushi Bar learning from a true Sushi Master, who had trained in Japan from a very young age.
This opened my eyes to a whole new level of skill and discipline demanded in Japanese kitchens. Becoming proficient in the art of Sushi, I progressed through other areas of the kitchen, enjoying the challenges of making dim sum, tempura and the robata grill... Japanese BBQ.
My CV boasts some of the top Sushi and Japanese Kitchens in London still to this day, which have given me a whole range of skills and life lessons both in and out of the kitchen, that I will never forget.
Serial Grillaz BBQ was born in 2022 after a close friend experienced one of my casual BBQ's at a new home he had helped me move into. He was taken aback, persuaded me to put all my knowledge and skills back into good use and in a more nuanced way...Social Media!

NYE 2022 we rang in the 2023 with a day of BBQ and ate like Kings! I threw some poorly edited videos together with some questionable soundtracks and had fun creating the content!
There is no denying how hard the chef life is, and now that I'm not dependant on that grind to survive, I enjoy cooking more than ever. Live fire cooking and BBQ have always been a solid passion of mine and one I want to share to prove that even the newest of cooks can do better than the British Bog standard of cremated burgers and sausages on a summer BBQ!
Serial Grillaz BBQ mission is to bring people together around the fire, break bread, grill almost everything and rebuild that sense of community that we all lack and need.
